In today’s world, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) hold immense significance as they aim to eradicate poverty, protect our planet, and ensure lasting peace for all. These goals are internationally recognized as the blueprint for global development, and Thailand is proud to be a part of this global mission. At Mahidol University, we have a vital role to play in driving and supporting the government’s framework to achieve sustainable development. As an educational institution, we have the opportunity to not only to provide knowledge and experience to the youth, but also actively contribute to the support of SDGs and foster positive attitudes towards ASEAN and our neighboring countries. By connecting people from diverse cultures and walks of life, we can work towards producing global citizens with broad perspectives and possessing expertise that is crucial for both academic and professional pursuits. With these motivations in mind, Mahidol University is proud to organize the Sustainable Development Goals + Mobility Mahidol University Projects (SDGs + Mobility MaPs).
SDGs + Mobility MaPs will serve as a transformative experience for students, raising their awareness about the challenges hindering the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within their communities. Recognizing that even the smallest unit can create significant impact on society, this project aims to empower students to overcome these challenges effectively. Through a combination of project-based learning and design thinking, students will embark on a collaborative journey to address these obstacles and devise solutions that benefit their communities.
By working in groups, students will have the opportunity to tap into their collective knowledge and skills, fostering a collaborative mindset that is essential for tackling complex societal issues. Guided by project-based learning principles, they will engage in hands-on activities, allowing them to apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations. This approach will enable them to gain practical experience and develop innovative problem-solving abilities.
Moreover, the program will serve as an incubator, providing a platform for students to explore, experiment, and design prototypes or policy suggestions that can lead to new innovations. It will encourage students to think critically, creatively, and empathetically as they seek solutions that align with the SDGs. By fostering an environment conducive to experimentation, the program will empower students to push boundaries, challenge conventional wisdom, and generate ideas that can contribute to sustainable development.
SDGs + Mobility MaPs will not only equip students with valuable skills but also inspire them to become agents of change within their communities. By engaging in this experiential learning process, students will develop a deep sense of ownership and responsibility towards the SDGs, fueling their passion for making a positive impact. They will realize that their contributions, no matter how small, can create a ripple effect, igniting positive transformations within society.
Ultimately, SDGs + Mobility MaPs will empower students to become an active citizen, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and mindset necessary to address the challenges inhibiting the achievement of the SDGs. Through their innovative thinking, creative problem-solving, and collaborative efforts, they will pave the way for sustainable development, leaving a lasting impact on their communities and inspiring others to join the global mission of creating a better world for all.
