กองวิเทศสัมพันธ์มีหน้าที่ในการสนับสนุนส่งเสริมให้เกิดความเป็นนานาชาติ (Internationalization) ขึ้นในทุกภาคส่วนของมหาวิทยาลัย ทั้งใน ระดับผู้บริหาร บุคลากรและนักศึกษา ผ่านความร่วมมือกับหน่วยงาน ภาครัฐและเอกชน ตลอดจน เครือข่ายต่าง ๆ ทั้งภายในประเทศและต่างประเทศ ในรูปแบบของ Internationalization at Home และ Internationalization Abroad โดยมีภารกิจหลักในการแสวงหาต่อยอดความร่วมมือกับพันธมิตรเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ การสร้างศักยภาพและคุณสมบัติความเป็นประชากรโลก ให้กับนักศึกษาและบุคลากร รวมทั้งการอำนวยความสะดวกในด้านต่างๆให้กับนักศึกษาและบุคลากรชาวต่างชาติที่เดินทางเข้ามาศึกษาหรือทำงาน ณ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล การอำนวยความสะดวกนี้ยังครอบคลุมนักศึกษาและบุคลากรชาวไทยที่ต้องการเปิดประสบการณ์ด้านการศึกษา ฝึกงาน และวิชาชีพในต่างประเทศอีกด้วย
The International Relations Division is tasked with supporting and promoting internationalism, or internationalization, across every sector of the university. This includes engagement at the executive, personnel, and student levels through collaboration with government and private agencies, as well as participation in various networks both domestically and internationally, in forms such as Internationalization at Home and Internationalization Abroad. Its primary mission is to foster increased cooperation with strategic partners, thereby cultivating potential and qualifications for global citizenship among students and staff. This involves facilitating various aspects for foreign students and personnel who come to study or work at Mahidol University, as well as extending support to Thai students and personnel seeking educational, internship, and professional opportunities abroad.
