On 15th March 2021, Mahidol University co-hosted an online meeting with University of Queensland, Australia. The meeting was led by Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Mahidol University, and Dr. Jessica Gallagher, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Entrepreneurship), University of Queensland. Executives from several Mahidol University faculties, collages and institutes participated in the meeting, including; Assoc. Prof. Jackrit Suthakorn, Dean, Faculty of Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Rutaiwan Tohtong, Deputy Dean for Research and International Relations, Faculty of Science; Dr. Allan Sriratana Tabucanon, Assistant to the Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies; Asst. Prof. Dr. Alexander Nanni, Associate Dean for International Affairs, International College; and Ms. Myrna Parsons, International Relations Officer, College of Management.
University of Queensland is a founding member of the Group of Eight (Go8) universities in Australia and ranked in the global top 50 universities. Mahidol University and University of Queensland discussed opportunities for collaboration under the UQ Enabling Partners Scheme. The aim of this scheme is to strengthen collaboration in academic, research, and entrepreneurship activities; including guest lectures, student and faculty exchange, workshops and training, and support for entrepreneurship via UQ Ventures. In the first stage, the focus would be on pathway programs or joint degree programs with International College and the extension of the collaboration with Faculty of Engineering in Computer Science and Chemical Engineering. University of Queensland is ranked in the world’s top 25 universities in Engineering. Further meetings will be arranged for more detailed discussions with Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, International college and College of Management.
