History

The establishment of Division of Education Service was approved according to Department of University Affairs’ Decree of 0202/19682 on 13 August 1985.  The division were subdivided to provide 4 tasks as follows:

  1. 1. Administrative task
  2. 2. Educational task
  3. 3. Research supporting and educational material task
  4. 4. Student statistics task

Division of Education Service had the main role in supporting academic mission of the university so that Mahidol University can maintain its position as a top level higher education institution in the country in all aspect from education, research, social service, and maintaining art and culture.

From its establishment in 1985, Division of Education Service had been performing its task smoothly ever since.  After the university expanded, the tasks of Division of Education Service also increased. Then Division of Education Service was assigned for more tasks than it was originally created for.  Therefore, the university management decided to split 2 tasks apart from Division of Education Service and create 2 new units to perform the tasks accordingly.  In the 7th Higher Education Development Plan (1992-1996), the research supporting and educational material task was proposed to become Division of Research Management and the student statistics task was proposed to become Division of Registrar.  Then at the 254th Mahidol University Council convention on 29 March 1995 and at the 258th Mahidol University Council convention on 26 July 1995, the convention had the resolution to approve both the establishment of Division of Research Management and Division of Registrar.  After that, Division of Education Service had only 2 task left that is administrative task and educational task.  In the division, there were 2 units which are Academic Support and Development Unit, and Academic Service Promoting and Supporting Unit.

After the university became university under state regulation in 2009, Division of Education Service had restructure itself again.  Then, Division of Registrar was merged back with Division of Education Service and Division of Education Service became Division of Education Administration.  The new mission of the newly created division is to accomplish missions and developments according to the university vision and mission by providing educational administration to support educational schedule to make Mahidol a world class university and to effectively and efficiently serve the overall policy of the university.  Now, Division of Education Administration are internally divided into offices as follows:

  1. Education Development Unit
  2. Education Administration Unit
  3. Registrar Unit
